Susan Marie (Gamble) Ratica

Susan Marie Gamble Ratica (September 9, 1958- June 15, 2026) passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, following a long and courageous battle with cancer.

Susan was a remarkable woman of faith, deep love, and a spirit that drew people in instantly. Her warmth, humor and charisma left a lasting impression on everyone she met, and she was often the brightest light in any room. A beloved Beth-Center Elementary School teacher for over 20 years, she touched the lives of countless children, nurturing not only their education but also their confidence and sense of belonging.

More than anything, Susan loved her family. She was one of five siblings and is lovingly remembered by Shirley Burnfield (Ron), Kenneth Gamble (Elana), Judy Adamson (Jay), and David Gamble. She was preceded in death by her parents, Kenneth and Shirley Celaschi Gamble, who instilled in her the values of kindness, hard work, faith, and devotion that she carried throughout her life.

She shared 47 wonderful years of marriage with her best friend and husband, William “Bill” Ratica. Together they built a life grounded in partnership, laughter, and unwavering love. She was a joyful and devoted mother to her sons; Billy (Michelle) and Brian (Dana) Ratica. She was always present, full of lighthearted fun, encouraging them every step of the way to become exactly who they were meant to be. And maybe above all, she was the proudest and most adoring Nana/ Nina to three deeply cherished grandchildren; Clem, Madelyn and Esme, who brought her immeasurable joy. She poured her heart into her family and delighted in every moment spent together.

Susan found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She loved canning the harvest from Bill’s garden each summer, hosting loved ones for everything from sleepovers with her grandbabies to big family holidays, and gathering together for cookouts on Steelers Sundays. No account of her life would be complete without mentioning her unwavering love for Pitt Athletics and the Panthers she cheered on so passionately.

Susan’s legacy lives on in the family she adored, the students she inspired, and the many lives she touched with grace, compassion, and joy.  She will be deeply missed and loved forever.

Susan’s family would like to express sincere thanks to the staff of Uniontown Hillman Cancer Center for the compassionate, positive and steadfast support they provided to her throughout her care.

In honoring Susan’s wishes there will be no public visitation or funeral service. Professional funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Kish-Farby Funeral Home, Inc., Republic, PA.
