Stephanie J. (Check) Mertz

Stephanie J. Check Mertz, age 72, of California, PA formerly of Republic passed away on Monday, October 21, 2019 at Mon Valley Hospital, Monongahela, PA. She was born on April 13, 1947, a daughter of Frank and Marion Catherine Franks Check.

In addition to her parents she was precede in death by her husband, Joseph Mertz.

Steph is survived by her siblings: Richard A. Check and his wife Barb of Republic, Michael Neely and his wife Joann of the state of Washington, Greg F. Check and his wife Cyndie of Republic, Cynthia L. Eadie and her husband Russell of Republic; special niece and caregiver, Amanda Thistlewaite; nieces & nephews: Craig, Lisa, Richard, Gina, Sarah.

Steph’s family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, October 24, 2019 at the Kish-Fabry Funeral Home, Inc., 19 Legion Street, Republic, PA. A Blessing Service will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday with Father William G. Berkey as celebrant. Interment will follow at Lafayette Memorial Park, Brier Hill, PA.
