Robert Lloyd Gillis, Sr., age 85 of Tower Hill 2 passed away on Saturday, November 17, 2018 in Uniontown Hospital with his loving family by his side. He was born in Low Hill on October 18, 1933 a son of Demora L. and Nellie Ammon Gillis.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers: William Raymond Gillis and Melvin D. Gillis.
Lloyd proudly served his country in the Army during the Korean Conflict. He was employed by Columbia Gas for 32 years.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years Ruth E. Lilley Gillis; two sons: Nelson D. Gillis and fiancée Deborah A. Thomas of Allison 2, Robert L. Gillis, Jr. of Scottdale; grandson, Robert Lee Gillis of West Virginia; brother, John Gillis and his wife Lisa of Malden; several nieces and nephews.
Lloyd’s family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Monday, November 19, 2018 and Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. in the Kish-Fabry Funeral Home, Inc. 19 Legion Street, Republic, PA where his funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday with Pastor Michael Lyons, officiating. Entombment will follow in Lafayette Memorial Park, Brier Hill, PA with Full Military Rights and Honors accorded by the George C. Marshall AMVETS Post 103 of Hopwood, PA.
