George “Poochie” Emery Kopacka, age 78 of New Salem, Pa passed away on Tuesday, July 15, 2025 at his home with his loving family by his side. He was born on February 3, 1947 in Isabella, Pa, a son of Joseph F. and Helen Louise Kopacka.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Loretta Kopacka Collins.
Poochie graduated from Redstone High School and proudly served his country in the U S Army. He worked for many years as a coal miner at Isabella Coal Mine and retired from Shallenburger Reclamation.
Survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Melody Broadwater Kopacka; daughters: Roxanne Kopacka of New Salem, Natalie Kozura (Ryan) of Unionville, VA, Kathleen Kopacka (Lucas) of Jacksonville, FL; grandchildren: Nate Guty, Jake Kozura, Cole Kozura; sister, Genevieve Jellick of Wrightstown, NJ; brothers: Joseph F. Kopacka and his wife, Becky of New Salem, Sam Kopacka and his wife, Donna of Jacksonville, FL; several nieces and nephews.
Poochie’s family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. on Saturday, July 19, 2025 in the Kish-Fabry Funeral Home, Inc., 20 N. Mill Street, New Salem, Pa where his funeral service will be held at 8 p.m. followed by Full Military Rights and Honors accorded by the George C. Marshall AMVETS Post 103 of Hopwood, Pa.
