Francis Joseph Shaw, age 72, passed away with family at his side at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, WV on Saturday June 28, 2025 from a tragic auto accident after courageously fighting cancer for 5 years. He was born February 8th, 1953 at Brownsville Hospital to James Wilber Sr and Henrietta Blanche Arrison Shaw. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 53 years Andrea Lynn Broadwater Shaw; brothers: James Shaw Jr, Daniel Shaw, and Edward Shaw; sisters: Virginia Shaw Kusch, Edith Shaw Auman, Joanne Shaw McDonald, and Ella Shaw Hunter.
Francis graduated from Brownsville High School in 1971 and shortly after started his lifelong career at Southwestern Pennsylvania Water Authority as a service man. After 30 years, he retired to the home he built with his wife Andrea in Penncraft, Pennsylvania. FJ, as his wife lovingly called him, was a jack of all trades and an avid outdoorsman.
He is survived by his children: Jennifer Shaw (Vernon) and Jonathan Shaw; grandchildren: Derek Brangard (Taylor), Bret Brangard (Tia), Kody Shaw (Tara), Vanessa Brangard Hostetler (Matthew), and Adam Brangard (Alyssa); great grandchildren: Presley, Levi, Olivia, Weslyn, and one little girl on the way; brother, Michael Shaw (Judy); sister, Susan Shaw (Ron); and lifelong friend Howard Carr (Cheryl).
Francis will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered for being a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather.
Francis’ family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 pm on Wednesday, July 2, 2025 in the Kish-Fabry Funeral Home, Inc., 19 Legion Street, Republic, Pa where his funeral service will be held on Thursday at 10 am. Interment will follow at Acklin Burial Park, Brownsville, Pa.
