Alberta (Yocabet) Berrish

Alberta Yocabet Berrish, 93 formally of Thompson #2 and Cherry Tree Nursing Center, Uniontown passed away on Monday, May 27, 2019. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Berrish to whom she was married for 59 years.  She was also preceded in death by her parents Tony and Susan (Harvilla) Yocabet and her in-laws Peter and Mary (Ustupsky) Berish.                                             

Alberta was preceded in death by her sister Pauline (Putchy) and John Pahula, husband, her brothers Joe Yocabet, Anthony Yocabet, and her sister Theresa and Arnold (Shorty) Carr, husband; Her sisters in law Pam Yocabet, Helen and Joe Mayeran, Margaret and Emil Maurin.  Her niece Cheryl Mayeran Bejma and nephew Joe Mayeran Jr..

Alberta loved to cook, especially when she worked at Jerry’s Catering, Republic, PA.  Most of all she loved spending time with her family.  She visited Capuzzi’s every day.   Alberta was a friend to everyone she met and she had a smile for everyone.  Alberta was a very caring woman and helped everyone that she could.  Alberta, “Bert”, will always be known for her cooking and baking especially her nut and poppy seed rolls.  She made a coconut cream pie that was mouthwatering. She shared her recipes with her family but they just didn’t taste like her original.  She added that special love to every pie she made.

Alberta is survived by her daughter Paulette (Berrish) and her husband, Lou Aliota; granddaughter, Tara (Aliota) Porsch and her husband, Matt; great granddaughter, Harper Isabella Porsch; all of Erie, PA; brother, Jerry Yocabet of Merritstown; sisters in law: Joanne Yocabet of Mather, PA and Chuyen Yocabet of California; many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews all of whom she dearly loved; several cousins, who frequently told stories of their adventures.

Family and friends are invited to the Kish-Fabry Funeral Home, Inc. 19 Legion Street, Republic, PA between 4-8 PM on Friday, May 31, 2019. Prayers of Transfer will be said at the funeral home on Saturday, June 1st at 9:30 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Francis Assisi R. C. Church (Footedale Worship Site) at 10 a.m. with Father William G. Berkey as Celebrant. Interment will follow at Holy Rosary Cemetery, Republic, PA.

Members of St. Frances of Assisi will pray the Rosary in the funeral home at 6 p.m. on Friday.

The family of Alberta would like to thank the 2nd floor staff at Cherry Tree Nursing Center for te wonderful care and patience they gave to Alberta.
